How often should I have my heat pump serviced?

An outdoor condenser can get dirty from a variety of things; dryer lint, spider webs, cottonwood, pollen, etc. A plugged outdoor condensing coil puts stress on your compressor which is hard on your equipment and your monthly utility bill. Regular maintenance is recommended annually to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.

Can a heat pump work effectively in cold Minnesota winters?

Minnesota winters can be hard on outdoor equipment and educating a homeowner is a top priority for us. Although modern cold-climate heat pumps are designed to operate even in low temperatures- we want advice homeowners not to push those limits especially if you aren't going to monitor your equipment. A buildup of snow or ice on your outdoor equipment left unattended can cause damage (especially to fan blades).

In order to get the best performance/ efficiency form your heat pump we recommend using it throughout the "shoulder months" and on mild winter days.
